Subaru BRZ Video
With the Subaru BRZ officially debuting at this week’s Toyota Motor Show, Subaru has released a video of the BRZ on the move. It’s hard not to feel a bit let down by the Subaru BRZ. Perhaps the quote attributed to Subaru that the BRZ would get ‘less than 300bhp’ was lost in translation, but the fact the BRZ comes with just three horses more than its cousin the Toyota FT-86 just leaves a feeling of disappointment.

Hybrid cars are starting to make their presence felt in the market place, and even at the top end of luxury saloons the market is moving in that direction. Whether you buy in to the planet-saving ethos or not, it’s hard to argue against something that costs less to run and helps you be perceived as a caring, sharing conscientious member of society – even if you drive a huge great Merchant-Banker-mobile! Lexus have made inroads with their LS 600, and recently we reported that Mercedes has not just given the Mercedes S Class a mid-cycle refresh, but has announced the imminent launch of the Mercedes S400 Hybrid.
Hyundai has already made it clear that 2013 will be about ‘Brand Awareness’ rather than releasing a new raft of models and chasing ever increasing sales, so two Hyundai outings in the last week can be put down to their targeted aim of profile raising. In Milan, Hyundai are taking part in the Milan Design Week by showing an innovative light sculpture that has been inspired by Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Design’ (even though Hyundai have already said that ‘Fluidic Design’ is being replaced by ‘Fluidic Precision’ as they aim to make their designs ‘cleaner) with an installation made up of 12,000 translucent spheres acting collectively on a screen, surrounded by high-power lasers and suspended over a pool of water. The ‘performance’ starts with virtual rain created by the lasers which form three-dimensional shapes, followed by an interactive segment where human interaction creates three-dimensional images by scanning for body warmth so visitors can manipulate what they see by using gestures.
